Dear SWPFC patients and families,

Thank you for standing strong with us, your continued support and prayers! Dr. D. Scrase, from the NM Human Services Security, on April 30, 2020 shared updates re. our state’s COVID status. At that time, in NM, 3 counties still have increases in COVID cases: San Juan, McKinley and Cibola. In the meantime, the remaining counties including Luna are on the decline in cases, thank God ?! The peak occurred early in April, so that’s behind us.

However, as a vaccine is still being developed for effective prevention at this time, Dr Scrase and Governor Luhan recommended NM residents to go slow with reopening businesses and to continue to do the following:

- face covering

- keep the 6 ft distance from others

- wash hands frequently

- cough or sneeze into a tissue or your own elbow

- sanitize surfaces (while remembering to keep products out of children’s reach as there was an increase in March of poisoning in kids due to cleansing products)

- do not touch your face.

I emphasize, too, that it is not wise to go anywhere if you’re sick, except to seek medical attention. And that’s what we’re here for- to provide care for sick kiddos!

At SWPFC, beginning May 4th, we are pleased to announce that we will resume providing physical services to babies, children and teens for sick visits. We strictly implement standards of care in maintaining universal precautions which is a good hand washing technique. We do have a “new normal.” Since the lockdown, we increased our telehealth services to accommodate sick visits. Our staff have been diligently using PPEs while providing well checks, immunizations and allergy shots. We’ve also been providing staff training and in- services regarding how to be better than ever before while maintaining national and state covid protocols until the lockdown is lifted.

Good news: Suite B opens effective May 4th! With Robin Hopkins-Wright, APRN, FNP-BC joining us full time, we will be able to accommodate more walk-ins while still maintaining physical distancing. Fully staffed, we will be able to see 4 families at a time as we have a total of 9 rooms in both suites A and B! To maintain distancing, the lobby will be opened to no more than 2 families at a time.

Located across the street from Mimbres Memorial Hospital’s emergency room, we are here ready for you! Call 575-936-4350 if your child needs to be seen ASAP or have any questions about your child’s health.
