Welcome to Our Friendly Family Care Facility in Deming, NM

Mission Statement

To provide wholistic care to families with a focus on disease prevention, growth and development, and health promotion.

The mission of SWPFC is to provide excellent evidence-based healthcare, listen empathetically to our patients’ needs, and be of service to others.

Vision and Core Values

Children are like wet cement (Anne Ortlund, 2002).

Proverbs 22:6 says, "Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it."

Molding children is an art and requires work, passion, and efficiency, otherwise it could be too late, and other less desirable factors will mold them. Southwest Pediatric and Family Care aims to provide care within the context that children have physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual needs that must be met. Although their DNA or genetic makeup is complete, their personality is still moldable by their environment. SWPC is here to partner with you, parents and guardians, to maximize your child's growth and developmental potential. With 23 years of primary pediatric care, we aim to provide wholistic care to pediatric patients with a focus on disease prevention, their growth and development, and health promotion.

  • We believe that successful lasting relationships result from open communication between you and your provider.
  • We believe that family, in its many forms, is the most important institution in human development.
  • We believe that the pursuit of excellence requires openness and willingness to change.
  • We believe that all people are created equal.
  • We believe that each person is responsible for the choices they make.

Southwest Pediatric and Family Care opened April of 2015. We have been lovingly caring for babies, kids, and teens in the Luna County community and our neighboring communities for over 5 years. In late spring / early summer 2020, we will start seeing patients through older adults.

Certified Phlebotomist - Bilingual (English/ Spanish)

As a proud junior at Early College High School here in Deming, NM, David Villagrana applied to work as an intern for Dr. Roque. A month later, Dr. and Joel Roque offered the opportunity to join the family. He states, "Since then, I am grateful to say I love working at Southwest Pediatric and Family Care."

David is a full-time dual credit student at Western New Mexico University, and plans to pursue a medical field career. Currently, at 17, he works part time as a certified phlebotomist and patient tech. He continues, "Working at this clinic with its lovely staff has allowed me to gain knowledge and experience in the different skills a healthcare worker must have. Seeing a newborn or toddler taken care of by excellent and caring providers has raised the interest to work in pediatrics in the near future. I love working and spending time with children."

Our team is pleased to have such a young, brilliant mind in David to join us. David shares, "My mother lives in a small border town 35 miles south of Deming, to which I go every weekend.
